I made this Music Video for Wing in record speed. (click the image to see the film)
I made his album artwork at the same time.
A long break! … Doing work.
There is something good about working with your hands out in the sun after spending an intense few months on a stuffy old computer.

It has been 8 months since my last blog, which is both sad and embarrassing. I am now in blog debt and so will do my best to recap, month by month, the last half a year or so.
A few months ago BBC wales commissioned me to produce 4 animations for a documentary telling the story of child labour during the Industrial Revolution. The program is called “The Children who built Victorian Britain” and is being broadcast tonight on BBC Four at 9pm.
I wasn’t the only one who the BBC commissioned, other contributors included graduates and students from The University of Wales Newport, as well as the graphics department at BBC Cymru.
Here’s a list of the Animations I produced:
1. ALEXANDER SOMERVILLE:
A touching story told by young Alexander Somerville about his older brother William. With an apparently missing father, William looked after the family doing not only his own work on a farm but also picking up the slack for his brother who was too young and weak for heavy lifting. As well as this he would stay up late every night and mend the shoes of all the other children in the household.
For this piece, I commissioned the professional help of my mother, Isabelle Roberts who did a pretty brilliant job with all the drawings.

2. INCREASING POPULATION:
This was the first of 2 graphics pieces I produced explaining why the population increased so much during this time.

3. MOTHERS:
These magic lantern style animations tell the story of how little boys of the time apparently absolutely loved their mums!

4. TRADE UNIONS:
The second graphics piece, explaining some of the first child labour laws that were introduced during the time.
